ABOUT THE MASSACHUSETTS RN LICENSE PLATE PROGRAM
In 2017, ONL embarked on a journey to create an RN license plate for the Massachusetts driver. After securing 750 pre-production plate applications, the RMV granted our special plate. RN license plates are now available through the RMV!
Available for any non-commercial vehicles (owned or leased), the RN license plate is a way to celebrate our profession and demonstrate our pride in being a nurse. Proceeds from RN license plate sales go directly to the ONL Association for Nursing Leadership, Science and Education, Inc., referred to as the ONL Foundation, a 501(c)(3) affiliate of ONL dedicated to supporting research, educational, and leadership development initiatives.
The fee for the RN plate is $40 and is 100% tax deductible. If you have an existing MA license plate that you will be turning in for your new RN plate, you will be subject to a $20 plate swap fee, and any other registration fees (for example, your registration may be due at time of plate pick-up). Registrations must still be renewed every two years, and the $40 plate fee continues to be tax-deductible every two years. All are welcome to use the RN plate (nurses and non-nurses).
